M.V. "DISCOVERY" departing HULL

Image
Cruise Ship "DISCOVERY" was introduced in 1972 as the ISLAND VENTURE, she became extremely famous when used for a few episodes of the famous TV series "THE LOVE BOAT", when the main protagonist, her sister ship PACIFIC PRINCESS was not available, "DISCOVERY" is still sailing today operated by British based C.M.V., unfortunately her sister was scrapped last year, she is seen here negotiating the lock on her way out to the river Hull and Humble Estuary before sailing the north sea, it is quite an experience to witness these big ships sailing through this lock which is only 25.9 meters wide, "DISCOVERY" is 24.64 meters wide, to be able to almost touch the ships is quite something for passengers on board and people walking the lock and surrounding footpath.
