REMEMBERING THE MV "CABO SAN ROQUE"

this post is dedicated to the Spanish passenger liner "CABO SAN ROQUE", she was built in1955 for YBARRA for the European/Argentina service, she was 14.497 GRT and had a cruising speed of 19 knots, I never sailed on this ship but I have lost count of the amount of times I went on board in Lisbon during mid seventies, very nice memories of the ship and of her sister ship the "CABO SAN VICENTE"

  1. I sailed her from Cadiz to Buenos Aires in the fall of 1972 and back to Algecerias in the Spring of 1973. I booked the cheapest ticket available ($350) each way, and resided in a cabin that held 5 other people. I couldn't believe that for this price, the food would be included, but it was. And not only included, but served by waiters in starched linen----"More wine senor?" Lovely trip, both ways. Good weather, flying fish and dolphins running along beside the ship.

    1. I was on your Cadiz 1972 voyage to Buenos Aires, but I boarded in Genova. We were 2 friends, 20 years of age, both Argentinians.

  4. I sailed from BsAs to Bilbao and from Cadiz to Bs As in 1964 with a group of students from San Juan argentina. We had a wonderful time, especially on the return trip when we met lots of friends from Spain, Brazil, Uruguay and other countries. Wonderful food and entertainment. I would like to contact friends we met on board on the return trip to Argentina.I'm on facebook.

  5. I am just looking at my old photographs of days long ago.
In 1963 I sailed on the MS Jagersfontain from Amsterdam to Capetown. When in Las Palmas I took a photo through our ship's bullseye of the bow of the MV Cabo San Roque. What wonderful memories and what peaceful days they were.
